The presser foot is designed to provide an exact 1/4" seam allowance, with both edges positioned 1/4" from the center needle position. The foot is notched 1/4" in front of and behind the needle center, serving as a reference point for starting, stopping, and pivoting during sewing.
It is important to ensure that the sewing machine is set to the straight stitch, center needle position when using this presser foot.
