The Bernette Piping Foot is compatible with the Bernette 44, Bernette 48, and Bernette 64 serger/sewing machines, making it a versatile tool for creating or sewing in braids, or even combining both actions in a single step. This specialized foot is qualified for such tasks, providing key benefits for home furnishing or garment projects.
To use the Bernette Piping Foot effectively, follow these steps:
- Set the machine for a 4-thread overlock or a wide 3-thread overlock (left needle).
- Cords/Piping, including fabric of up to 1/8" (3 mm) diameter, can be used.
- Raise the presser foot and snap on the "Piping foot."
- Place a bias fabric strip around the cord, with the fabric edges to the right, and position it under the foot, with the cord in the groove.
- Lower the foot and sew a few stitches to secure the placement.
- Raise the presser foot.
- Place the two layers of fabric, with the right sides facing the piping.
- Lower the presser foot and sew.
